Chartered winter flights fly from local airports to Plovdiv, the 2nd largest city in Bulgaria, and at the feet of the Rhodope mountains. See Balkan Holidays, Thomas Cook and Thomson Holidays for winter flights.
Flights cost on average 150 Euros per person, although we are flying in the Summer for less than 100 Euros per person including all taxes.
All major car hire companies are found at the arrivals hall of the airports. We have a great relationship with Bulgaria's largest car hire company called Tany97. Contact Alex at plovdiv@tany97.com and he will provide the best rates and service for car hire from any airport or city. They have their own kiosk in Sofia airport, and will deliver a vehicle to other airports. If landing outside of office hours, they only charge 20 Euros for an 'out-of-hour' drop of & pick up. |

 sofia & plovdiv airports
Getting to the Rhodope mountains from the airports is a pleasure. The roads are very good, the route is very simple, there is no congestion, and the views are beautiful. Most the garages along the way are superb. They take a real pride in their appearance by landscaping their grounds, providing play facilities for children, and offer excellent refreshment with inside and outise cafe facilities. Petrol prices are around 1 Euro per litre, and garages are in abundance. Comprehensive directions and information are provided within the holiday pack.
driving the transfer from the airports can be enjoyed on good, fast, uncongested roads with relaxing beautiful views
The village of Pavelsko is a typical Bulgarian viillage, located in the heart of the Rhodope mountains. It is ideally situated to take adavantage of the ski slopes, swimming and spa facilities in Pamporovo and Chepelare, the city of Plovdiv, all the beautiful nature and historic buildings in the area, as well as the activities including walking, hiking, cycling, fishing, bird watching, rock climbing, horse riding, and river activities. There are some superb walks that can be taken straight from the front door of the chalet.
The village has bars and restaurants, a park, and shops. The village has a lovely relaxed pace about it and is a great place to get away from the hussle and bussle of today's modern life, whilst providing a central base to enjoy the area and mountains. Local village people are friendly and mainly work the land. As a result the village is a great place to see all sorts of farm animals, and children will have fun counting the cows home as they plod their way home through the village at sunset.
